The Money Thing Made Easy

As a listener of the show you know that the turtle time segment is about taking a very strategic and deliberate approach with your money. If you think wealthy people are made a million bucks at a time, you need to think again.
Here are my Turtle time thoughts about what to do with your tax stimulus check. If you have read my book or listened to the show much, you know that you have to do two things with your money to survive and even thrive in the years to come.
#1. Keep your money for yourself which means that you have to live without debt. Thomas Jefferson: “Never spend your money before you have it.”
#2. Have 3 months worth of your survival number, your survival number is how ever much money you need to survive each month. Keep this in your float account, which is a bank or money market account drawing interest.
So what do you do with your tax stimulus check?
If you are like most people, you have credit card debt and little or no money in the bank. You have to use this check as the seed money to make this change. Let me give you an example.
If you took your $1,000 stimulus check and paid $1,000 off of your $4,000 credit card bill at 14.99% interest.
If you paid $150 per month on your $4,000 balance you would pay it off in 33 months and you would pay a total of $4950.00.
If you paid $1,000 now and still paid your $150.00 per month you would only pay $4600.00. Your $1,000 stimulus check would save you $350.00 in interest.
If you put the $1,000 per month in a money market account at 8% and then added $100 per month, in 24 months you would have $3,766. In 60 months you would have $8,837.
You have to look at where your money is going and where it should go. For more information, go to our website at www.TheMoneyThing.com. You can even register for our newsletter to get more of this type of information.

As a listener of the show you know that the turtle time segment is about taking a very strategic and deliberate approach with your money. If you think wealthy people are made a million bucks at a time, you need to think again.
The reason the tortoise always wins the race is that he or she (We don’t know which sex the tortoise is, so we?) Probably a female, and here is why that’s my guess. What the tortoise does is fix her eyes on the end result and with discipline and determination keeps moving in that direction. In my experience, women are more disciplined and tougher than men. We are physically stronger but women tend to be tougher.
In my book, The Money Thing Made Easy, I talk about the three steps to take to fix your money, Vision, Systems and Accountability. The first one is vision. You have to create your vision so you know where you are going. You have to have an end result to fix your eyes on.
Here is a simple step to help you get started. Today, or even right now while you are listening to my voice. Write down how much money you want to have in the bank at the end of the year. Just write the number down. You don’t have to do anything with it, just write it down.
If you want to go to the next step, you can write down more information about what you want your life to look like at the end of the year. How much of your debt you have paid off, how much money you are bringing in each month.
There are many things you can do to add emotion and color to your vision, but for now, just write down one thing. Once you put it out there, you will be surprised what will happen.
